Please click the play button below for the Sermon Audio link from September 18, 2011.

Christians are called to love Jesus. Plain and Simple. However, as we look at our text in Colossians 3:5-11, Paul contrasts the Old Self with the New Self and shows us that Christ should be our identity.

Outline:

Colossians 3:5-11

Christ Above All: Our Identity

  1. 1.      The Old Self (v. 5-9)
    1. We are to count ourselves as dead to the things of this world.
    2. Personal Sins related to personal actions (Romans 5:6-11; Ephesians 5:6-10; 2:1-5).
    3. Social Sins related to our attitudes (John 8:44).
  1. 2.      The New Self (10-11)
    1. We are being renewed (2 Corinthians 5:16-19)
    2. Only Jesus can renew us (Romans 6:5-7).
    3. Christ is in all (Galatians 3:26-29; Romans 10:12-13)

Anything that cools my love for Christ is the world.” – John Wesley
